What you need
- Two dice. One action die (kiss, whisper, massage…) and one body part die (neck, ear, lips…). Store-bought sets have words printed on them; you can also write on blank dice or use an app.
- Two players. It’s a couples game. With a group, play Truth or Drink or another adult party game instead.
- Somewhere comfortable and private, and about half an hour.

How to play dirty dice, step by step
- Agree the ground rules first. How far tonight goes, and a stop word. It takes thirty seconds and makes every roll after it easier.
- Decide who goes first. Highest roll on a normal die, or whoever suggested the game.
- Roll both dice. Read them together: the action die says what, the body part die says where. “Soft kiss” plus “neck” means a soft kiss on your partner’s neck.
- Do it on your partner. The roller does the action. Take your time; ten seconds to a minute is about right.
- Pass the dice. Your partner rolls and does the same to you. Keep alternating.
- Re-roll anything either of you doesn’t want. No discussion needed.
That’s it. There is no score and no winner, and the game ends whenever you both want it to.
Common variations
Three-dice version (action, body part, time)
Add a third die for duration: 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, one minute, two minutes, “until I say stop”. It stops the game from rushing, which is the most common way it fizzles out.
Location die
A third die can pick the room instead: couch, kitchen, shower, floor, bed, “your choice”. It works best once you’re a few rolls in.
Strip dice
The older “dirty dice” party game is a strip game: everyone starts with the same number of clothing items, rolls each round, and the lowest roll loses an item. For couples it’s often combined with the two-dice game: lose the roll, lose a layer.
Heat levels

House rules worth keeping
- A re-roll is always free. If one of you has to justify skipping, the game stops being fun.
- The stop word ends everything, immediately, no questions asked.
- Start mild. A few soft rolls first build more tension than jumping to the hottest dice.

- Sober enough to mean it. A drink is fine; consent you won’t remember isn’t.
