The free printable Thanksgiving games

1. Thanksgiving bingo for adults

Players: any number. You need: one card each, a pen.

This is not the kids’ version with pumpkins and pilgrims. The squares are things that happen at every adult Thanksgiving: “Someone brings up politics,” “So when are you two getting married?”, “The gravy runs out,” “A recipe is not how Mom made it,” “Someone asks for the WiFi password.” Hand out cards before dinner, mark squares quietly as they happen, and the first person with a full line shouts “Gobble!” and wins the last slice of pie. The PDF has four different cards, two per page; print more pages if you have more than four players and let people swap.

2. Thanksgiving trivia with answers

Players: 4 or more, in teams. You need: the trivia page per team, the answer page for the host.

Twenty questions that adults will actually argue about: which president caused “Franksgiving,” which writer campaigned for 17 years to make Thanksgiving national, which state raises the most turkeys, what a baby turkey is called, and which sitcom thought turkeys could fly. Teams write answers, the host reads out the answer key, one point each. The answer page has a scoring line, and the lowest team does the dishes.

3. Thanksgiving Scattergories

Players: 3 to 10. You need: one sheet each, a timer.

The host picks a letter. Everyone has two minutes to fill ten Thanksgiving categories (“a pie flavor,” “a side dish,” “something brown,” “a family argument topic, keep it civil”) with answers starting with that letter. You score a point only for answers nobody else wrote, so the safe answer is usually the losing one. Three rounds on one sheet.

4. Most Likely To, Thanksgiving edition

Players: 5 or more. You need: the card page, scissors.

Cut out the twelve cards. Read one out (“Most likely to bring store-bought and call it homemade”), count to three, and everyone points at someone. Whoever gets the most fingers has to defend themselves. It is the best game on the list for a table of people who know each other well, and the fastest way to find out what your family really thinks.

5. The thankful hat

Everyone writes one thing they are thankful for this year on a scrap of paper, folds it and drops it in a hat. The host reads them out one at a time and the table guesses who wrote each one. It is a gratitude round that nobody finds cheesy, because guessing makes it a game.

6. Thanksgiving Would You Rather

Go round the table: “Would you rather only eat stuffing or only eat pie for the rest of the day?”, “Would you rather host every Thanksgiving forever or never host again?”, “Would you rather sit next to the in-laws or at the kids’ table?” The answers matter less than the defences.

7. Two truths and a lie, Thanksgiving memories

Each person tells three stories from past Thanksgivings; one is invented. Older relatives are surprisingly good at this, and you will hear about the year the turkey caught fire.

8. Pie charades

Write Thanksgiving films, foods and family moments on slips of paper, split into two teams, and act them out against a one-minute timer. The team with fewer points serves dessert.

9. Leftovers Chopped

For Friday or a Friendsgiving: two teams each get the same three leftovers and twenty minutes to make something new. A neutral judge scores taste, creativity and presentation.

10. Parade and football drinking game

Pick a rule each before the game or the parade: a sip for every touchdown, every balloon wobble, every time the commentator says “tradition.” Use cider, sparkling water or a soft drink for anyone not drinking; the game works exactly the same.

11. Party Roulette on one phone

When the table is full and the board games are packed away, a phone game needs zero setup. Party Roulette spins a wheel that picks the player and the challenge: truth, dare or drink, with 700+ prompts across 15 game modes. Warm-Up and Truth or Drink are free, and the rest, including the late-night adult modes, come with Party Roulette Plus. It is an 18+ game, so keep it for the grown-ups’ table after the kids are in bed.

12. Never Have I Ever

Everyone holds up five fingers; say something you have never done, and anyone who has done it puts a finger down. It is the quickest icebreaker for a Friendsgiving where not everyone knows each other. Our Never Have I Ever app has 1,800+ questions in 21 decks, from funny icebreakers (free) to spicy 18+ ones.

How to plan a Thanksgiving game night for adults

  • Hand out bingo cards before dinner. It runs quietly through the meal and gives everyone a reason to listen to Uncle Rob’s story.
  • Trivia between dinner and dessert, when people are too full to move but still awake.
  • Most Likely To or Scattergories with pie, because they work sitting down with a plate.
  • Phone games and drinking games last, once the table has thinned to the people who want them.
  • Set stakes. The loser does dishes, the winner takes the best leftovers home. Stakes turn a game into a tradition.

Hosting a party later in the season too? Our party games for adults on phone list has games that need nothing but the phones already in everyone’s pockets, and the Halloween party games for adults post has more no-prep group games that work any time of year.
