Common questions

Which links can VidSave save?

Direct links to a video or image file: MP4, WebM, JPG and PNG. A direct link is one that opens the file itself, often ending in .mp4 or .jpg. Links to a social media post or a streaming page are not supported, YouTube is not supported, and protected or encrypted videos are never downloaded.

It says it couldn’t find a video at this link

The link most likely points to a web page rather than the file. Open it in your browser, play or open the file itself, long-press it and copy the media link, then paste that instead. If the site needs you to sign in to see the file, VidSave cannot reach it either.

Saving from another app

In your browser or any app, tap Share on a link and pick VidSave. The save starts straight away without leaving the app you are in, and you can follow it in your notifications. Open or share the finished file from the notification.

Where do my files go?

Videos are saved to Movies/VidSave and images to Pictures/VidSave, so your gallery app shows them. They play offline. The Library in VidSave lists everything you saved, and “Show in gallery” opens a file in your gallery app.

I don’t see download progress

Progress lives in your notifications. If you turned notifications off, allow them for VidSave in Android Settings → Apps → VidSave → Notifications. Saving works either way; the Library shows the download while VidSave is open.

Can I save several at once?

VidSave saves one file at a time so each one finishes quickly and reliably. If you share a second link while one is saving, it tells you to wait; share it again once the first is done.

Why is there an ad before saving?

Your first save is free. After that, the free version offers a short ad before each save; you choose to start it, and the save begins when it ends. If no ad is available, the save goes ahead anyway. Remove ads takes it away for good.

Remove ads and restoring a purchase

Remove ads is a single payment through Google Play, not a subscription. It covers every phone signed in to the same Google account. On a new phone, open Settings → Restore purchase while signed in to the account you bought it with. Refunds are handled by Google Play.
