Transcribe – Terms of Use

1. This Agreement

These terms are between you and RiekApps, and they cover the Transcribe website at transcribe.riekapps.com. Using the website means you accept them; if you do not, stop using it. The Voice Recorder phone app it links to has its own terms.

2. Licence To Use The Service

RiekApps grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the website for your own purposes, including commercial work on your own recordings. The website, its design and its code remain the property of RiekApps. The Whisper speech models are published by OpenAI and the transformers.js library by Hugging Face, each under its own open licence.

3. A Free Tool

Transcribe is free, with no account, no minute limit and no watermark. The work is done by your own device, so how long a file takes depends on your computer or phone and your browser.

4. Your Recordings And Your Transcripts

The audio and video you bring to Transcribe, and the transcripts and subtitles you make from them, belong to you. RiekApps claims no rights over them and never receives a copy, because the work is done in your browser (see the Privacy Policy).

You are responsible for the audio you use. Only record and transcribe conversations where you have the right and, where the law requires it, the consent of the people speaking, and respect the copyright of any recording you did not make.

5. Transcript Accuracy

Transcripts are produced automatically by a speech-recognition model and will contain errors, especially with background noise, overlapping speakers, strong accents, names, numbers and technical terms. The language detection can also be wrong on short or mixed-language clips. RiekApps makes no promise that a transcript is accurate or fit for a particular purpose, such as legal, medical or court use. Check it against the audio before you rely on it.

6. Acceptable Use

Do not use Transcribe to break the law, to infringe anyone’s copyright or privacy, or to harass or defame anyone. Do not interfere with the website or use automated means to load it beyond ordinary personal use.

7. Availability And Changes

The website is provided as it is. It depends on your browser, your device and on the model files being available from their hosts, none of which we control. Features may change, and we may suspend or discontinue the website at any time. Download anything you want to keep: nothing you transcribe is saved on our side.

8. Limitation Of Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, RiekApps is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Transcribe, including an inaccurate transcript or a transcript you did not save. Because the service is free, our total liability to you is limited to zero, or to the smallest amount the applicable law permits. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and if you have consumer rights in your country, these terms do not take them away.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute arising from them is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of India, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection you enjoy where you live.
