PDF Maker – Terms of Use

1. This Agreement

These terms are between you and RiekApps, and they govern your use of the PDF Maker app for Android. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not, please uninstall it. How the app handles data is described separately in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.

2. Licence To Use The App

RiekApps grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use PDF Maker on devices you control, for personal or business purposes. The app itself, its name and its design remain the property of RiekApps. You may not sell, rent or redistribute the app, or attempt to decompile or reverse engineer it except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded.

3. Your Documents

Everything you open, scan, create or export stays yours. RiekApps claims no ownership of it and no licence over it. Because the app works entirely on your device and uploads nothing, we hold no copy of your documents and could not use them even if we wished to. You are responsible for having the right to use the documents and images you put into the app.

4. The Free Plan

Without PDF Maker Pro you may complete three document operations each day. The count resets at midnight in your device’s own time zone. Signing a document and compressing to an exact target size are Pro features and are not part of the free allowance. Viewing and searching documents you already have, and reading Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, are unlimited and free. These limits may change for future versions of the app; a change will not reduce what an existing Pro purchase already covers.

5. PDF Maker Pro

PDF Maker Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and there is nothing to cancel. It removes the daily limit and unlocks the Pro-only tools. The purchase is tied to the Google account that made it, so it can be restored on another device by signing in to that account and choosing Restore purchases in Settings. If the app was installed from somewhere other than Google Play, Play cannot see the purchase and it cannot be restored.

6. Refunds

All payments are collected by Google Play, and refunds are handled under Google’s refund policy for the country where the purchase was made — RiekApps cannot issue a refund directly. If a refund is refused and you believe the app is at fault, write to riekapps@gmail.com and we will try to help.

7. What The Tools Do And Do Not Promise

PDF Maker is a document tool, not an archival system, and some of its operations are lossy by nature. In particular:

• Compression reduces quality in order to reduce size. A target size is a goal the app works towards, not a guarantee: some documents cannot reach a very small target without becoming unreadable, and the app will tell you when a target looks unrealistic rather than silently ruining the file.
• The Word, Excel and PowerPoint reader shows a document’s content as reading text. It does not reproduce the original page layout, fonts, spacing or positioning, and is not a substitute for opening the file in the application that made it.
• Editing tools such as merge, split, page reordering and signing write a new file. Keep your originals; do not rely on PDF Maker as the only copy of anything you cannot lose.

A signature added in PDF Maker is an image placed on a page. It is not a cryptographic digital signature and carries no certificate. Whether it is legally sufficient for a given document depends on the law and the parties involved, and that is for you to determine.

8. Password-Protected Documents

The unlock tool removes protection from a document when you supply its password. It does not break, guess or circumvent encryption, and it cannot open a file whose password you do not have. You agree to use it only on documents you are entitled to open. RiekApps cannot recover a password you have lost, including one you set yourself in the app.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use PDF Maker to:

• Infringe anyone’s copyright or other rights, including by removing protection from documents you have no right to open.
• Create or alter a document in order to deceive — forging a signature, or falsifying a record, contract or official document.
• Process material that is unlawful to possess or distribute where you are.
• Interfere with the app’s operation, or with Google Play’s billing.

10. Google Services

Some features rely on services provided by Google: Google Play for purchases, Firebase for analytics and crash reporting, and — if you choose to use it — Google Drive for uploading a finished file. Your use of those services is also governed by Google’s own terms, and RiekApps is not responsible for their availability or behaviour.

11. Availability And Changes

PDF Maker works offline for every document operation, so it does not depend on us staying online. We may still change, add or withdraw features in future versions. If a change materially reduces what a Pro purchase provides, we will say so in the app.

12. No Warranty

PDF Maker is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that it is free of defects or that every document will process correctly. Nothing here excludes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

13. Limitation Of Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, RiekApps is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data, lost profits or lost business, arising from your use of PDF Maker. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim. This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

14. Ending This Agreement

You may end it at any time by uninstalling the app. We may end it if you breach these terms in a serious way. Ending the agreement does not entitle you to a refund except as required by law or by Google’s refund policy, and the documents on your device remain yours.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
