Common questions

Where did my finished PDF go?

Everything you make stays in the app under Files, and opens from there. Use Download on the result screen to also put a copy in your phone’s Downloads folder, or Share to send it somewhere else. Files kept only inside the app are removed if you uninstall it, so download anything you want to keep.

I have used up today’s free operations

The free plan allows three document operations a day, and the count resets at midnight in your own time zone. Viewing and searching documents you already have does not count towards it, and neither does reading a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file. PDF Maker Pro is one purchase that removes the limit.

Restore PDF Maker Pro

Open Settings and choose Restore purchases, signed in to the same Google account that made the original purchase. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, so there is nothing to renew or cancel. If you installed the app from outside Google Play, Play cannot see the purchase — install from Play and try again.

Compression did not reach the size I asked for

A target size is a goal, not a guarantee. Compression works by lowering image quality, and some documents — long scans, or pages that are photographs — cannot reach a very small target while staying readable. The app checks your target against the document first and warns you when it looks unrealistic, rather than producing something unusable. Try the next size up, or split the document and compress the halves.

My Word document does not look like it does in Word

That is expected. PDF Maker reads Word, Excel and PowerPoint files on your device and shows their content as reading text — headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and images — without reproducing the original page layout, fonts or spacing. It is built for reading a document you have been sent, not for editing it. A note at the top of every such document says the same thing.

The Files tab does not show documents I know are on my phone

The “On this phone” tab needs Android’s All files access permission, because documents are not covered by the photo and media permissions. PDF Maker asks for it the first time you open that tab, and never at launch. If you declined, grant it in Android Settings under Apps → PDF Maker → All files access. Everything else in the app works without it, and nothing found there is ever uploaded.

Opening a PDF from Gmail, WhatsApp or Files

Tap the file and choose PDF Maker from the list Android offers; tick “Always” to make it the default. This works for PDFs and for Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. You can also share a file into PDF Maker from another app’s share sheet.

Finding a word inside a long PDF

Open the document and tap the magnifying glass in the top bar. Matches are highlighted on the page as you type, and the arrows step between them. The counter shows which match you are on out of the total. On a very long document the total keeps rising for a moment while the later pages are read.

This PDF wants a password

PDF Maker will ask you for it. The password is used to open the document and is then forgotten — it is never stored, never sent, and never included in a support email. The app cannot open a document whose password you do not have, and cannot recover a password you have lost, including one you set yourself.

Reading a document at night

Open a PDF and tap the moon icon in the top bar to invert it, which turns a white page dark without changing the file. The rest of the app follows your phone’s light or dark setting, and you can override that in Settings.

Report a problem

Open Settings and choose Contact us. PDF Maker starts an email to riekapps@gmail.com with the app version already in the subject, and you can read and edit the whole message before sending. Please say which tool you used and what the document was like — how many pages, roughly how large, whether it came from a scan. Never send us a document you would not want us to have; we do not need the file to look into most problems.

Every document tool runs on your phone — PDF Maker has no account and no server to upload files to. See the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
