Common questions
How do I turn MagicBoard on?
Open the MagicBoard app and follow the setup, or go to Settings → System → Keyboard → On-screen keyboard → Manage keyboards and switch on MagicBoard. Then, in any text box, tap the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen and choose MagicBoard. Android shows a warning that any keyboard can see what you type; MagicBoard keeps what you type on your phone, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
What do the four red buttons do?
AI writer rewrites your message in the style you pick (professional, casual, funny and more). Fix grammar corrects spelling and grammar, or makes the text formal, shorter or friendlier. Reply suggests three replies to a message you copied. Translate turns your text into one of 22 languages. They need an internet connection and send only the text they work on, when you tap them.
Reply says “Copy a message, then tap reply”
A keyboard cannot read the chat you are typing in, so Reply works from what you copy. Long-press the message you received, tap Copy, then tap the Reply button. Three replies appear above the keys; tap one to put it in your message. It uses a message copied in the last 10 minutes.
It keeps changing a word I typed on purpose
Tap backspace right after the correction to get your word back, or tap your word in the middle of the suggestion bar. MagicBoard then learns it and stops correcting it. You can also add it in the app: Settings → Your words → Add a word.
A suggestion I never want keeps showing up
If you tap a suggestion and delete it straight away, MagicBoard learns that it was wrong after those words and stops offering it there.
Swipe typing picks the wrong word
Swipe in one smooth motion and pass close to each letter, even briefly. If the word is wrong, tap the right one in the suggestion bar: MagicBoard learns how you swipe that word. Swipe typing can be switched off in Settings → Swipe Typing.
How do I clear what MagicBoard has learned?
Open the MagicBoard app → Settings → Your words. Tap × next to a word to forget it, or “Forget everything MagicBoard learned” to reset the keyboard. Words and phrases you stop using are also forgotten on their own after 60 to 90 days.
Can I use it without sending anything online?
Yes. Typing, suggestions, autocorrect, swipe typing and emojis all work offline. In Settings → AI, choose On-device and the AI buttons send nothing at all.
The microphone button opens a different keyboard
Voice typing uses Google’s voice typing on your phone. Speak, then tap the keyboard button on Google’s voice screen to come back to MagicBoard.
