MagicBoard – Privacy Policy
Effective October 15, 2026 · MagicBoard keyboard for Android, provided by RiekApps
Key Points
- What you type stays on your phone. Suggestions, autocorrect, swipe typing and emoji suggestions all run on the device.
- MagicBoard learns your words, phrases and swipe style on the phone only. You can see and delete what it learned in Settings › Your words.
- Text leaves the phone only when you tap an AI button (AI writer, Fix grammar, Reply or Translate), and then only the text that button works on. You can switch cloud AI off entirely.
- Nothing is learned in password fields or in apps that ask keyboards not to learn (such as incognito browser tabs).
- No account, no ads, no analytics or crash-reporting SDK. RiekApps does not sell personal data.

1. What You Type
Like every keyboard, MagicBoard receives the text you type so it can show it, suggest the next word, fix typos and turn swipes into words. All of this is done by models and dictionaries that are part of the app and run on your phone. Nothing you type is sent to RiekApps or anyone else as you type, and the keyboard works with the network switched off.
Android’s keyboard warning (“this input method may be able to collect all the text you type”) appears for every keyboard that is not built into the phone. This policy describes what MagicBoard actually does with that text.
2. What The Keyboard Learns
To get better for you, MagicBoard keeps a private record on the phone of:
- words you type, and how often and how recently — so your names and slang are suggested and never autocorrected;
- short phrases you repeat (up to five words), so the next word you usually type comes up first;
- suggestions you tapped and deleted straight away, so they stop coming back;
- the shape of your swipes for the words you swipe most, so swipe typing fits your hand;
- the emojis you use most.
This record is stored in the app’s private storage, which other apps cannot read, and is never sent anywhere. Nothing is learned in password fields or in apps that ask keyboards not to learn, such as incognito tabs. Words and phrases you have not typed for 60 to 90 days are deleted automatically. In Settings › Your words you can see the words MagicBoard has learned, delete any of them, or forget everything it has learned.
3. AI Features
The four red buttons above the keys use an AI model on a server. Each one sends text only when you tap it:
- AI writer and Fix grammar — the text before the cursor in the box you are typing in (up to 500 characters), with the style you picked;
- Reply — the messages visible on screen in the chat you are typing in, if you have switched on Reply without copying (see below); otherwise the message you copied in the last 10 minutes. Three replies are suggested. Text that the copying app marks as sensitive (for example from a password manager) is never sent;
- Translate — the text you selected, or the text before the cursor, and the language you picked;
- Your own prompts and Ask (in the AI writer panel) — the same text as the AI writer, together with the instruction you wrote for that prompt (for example “Turn this into a tweet”). Ask treats the text as a question to the AI and the answer is offered in its place;
- Voice typing clean-up — after you dictate with the microphone key, the transcript (what the speech recognizer heard, never the audio) is sent once so punctuation and filler words can be fixed, with Undo in the suggestion strip. Dictations under three words are left as they are.
Sounds like me. When no personality is selected, MagicBoard can learn how you write from messages you send: it keeps up to 400 of your recent sent messages on the phone (never from password fields, incognito apps, or text an AI button wrote) and works out a short description of your style, such as message length, casing, punctuation, emojis and favourite words. With MagicBoard Pro, that description and a few of your recent messages, as examples, travel with each AI writer and Reply request so the result sounds like you. Without Pro nothing is sent. You can switch this off, or forget everything learned, in Settings › Personalities › Just me; Settings › Your words › Forget everything clears it too.
With the text, the app sends an identifier for MagicBoard on your phone, made from Android’s app-specific device ID and scrambled one way (it is not the advertising ID, and it differs from the one Contact us uses). It stays the same if you reinstall the app. It is not linked to your name, email or any account, and is used only to count requests: the free daily AI uses, the hourly limit, and the free replies in your own voice.
The request goes to the RiekApps server, which runs on Cloudflare. The server passes the text to an AI model (currently Mistral Small) through OpenRouter, a service that routes requests to model providers, and sends the result back to your phone. The server does not store or log your text or the result. Against the identifier it keeps only counts: today’s requests (deleted the next day), requests in the last hour (in memory) and, for the free plan, how many replies were written in your own voice. OpenRouter and the model provider handle the text under their own policies. Cloudflare keeps routine technical logs (such as IP address and time of request) for a short period.
In Settings › AI you can choose On-device: the AI buttons then send nothing, and no text ever leaves your phone. AI buttons are hidden in password fields.
3a. Reply Without Copying (Accessibility Service)
Optionally, you can let Reply read the chat on screen instead of copying a message first. This uses an Android accessibility service, because it is the only way a keyboard can see the chat it is typing into. You switch it on yourself in Android’s Accessibility settings, after a screen in the app explains it, and can switch it off there at any time.
- It reads at the moment you tap Reply or Sum up, and only the app you are typing in. With People voices on (below), it also reads the chat once as the keyboard opens there. Nothing runs in the background and it receives no screen events.
- It reads the visible message bubbles (up to about 14 lines, 1,000 characters) and the name at the top of the chat, and sends the bubbles to the AI with that one Reply or Sum up request, as described above. The box you are typing in and password fields are never read.
- For Reply and Sum up, the lines are not stored, on the phone or on the server, and are not used for anything other than that request.
- The service is not used to collect any other information about you or other apps.
People voices. With the chat reader on, MagicBoard can learn how you talk to each person separately: when the keyboard opens in a chat it notes the app and the name at the top of that chat, keeps the messages you send there (up to 60 per person) and the last few of the other side’s lines it saw on screen (up to 40 per person), and works out a short description of your style with that person and of theirs. All of this stays on the phone; the server never receives their lines except as part of a Reply or Sum up request you tap. With MagicBoard Pro, the description and a few of your own messages to that person travel with AI writer and Reply requests in that chat, instead of your overall style. If the other person’s last message is only emojis, the suggested replies are emojis chosen on the phone and nothing is sent. Settings › People lists everyone learned and lets you forget one person or everyone; switchingLearn per person off forgets them all.
4. Clipboard
MagicBoard keeps a history of text you copy so you can paste it again from the clipboard panel. The history stays on the phone, keeps the last 24 hours and at most 30 items, and can be cleared at any time from the panel. Copies that the copying app marks as sensitive, such as passwords and one-time codes, are never kept. The clipboard is read for the Reply button only when you tap it, as described above.
When a field gets focus within two minutes of a copy, the keyboard offers what you copied as a one-tap chip, the way most keyboards do: the text, a code picked out of it, or a copied picture such as a screenshot in apps that accept images from the keyboard. The chip only reads the clipboard that is already on your phone; tapping it pastes into the field you are in, and nothing is sent anywhere.
4a. Codes From SMS (Notification Access)
Optionally, MagicBoard can offer one-time codes from your messages as a Paste code chip, so you do not have to switch apps and copy them. Keyboards may not read SMS directly, so this uses Android’s notification access: you switch it on yourself in Android’s settings, after a screen in the app explains it, and can switch it off there at any time.
- From each new notification it looks only for a 4 to 8 digit code next to a word such as “code” or “OTP”. Notifications without one are ignored and nothing from them is kept.
- A found code is held in the keyboard’s memory for five minutes, or until you paste it, then dropped. It is never written to disk, never added to the clipboard history, and never sent to our server or anyone else.
- The notification’s text, sender and app are not stored or used for anything else, and the access is not used to collect any other information.
- On Android 15 and newer the system hides such codes from every keyboard, so this works on Android 14 and older only; on newer phones, tap Copy on the message and the code is offered from the clipboard as above.
5. Voice Typing
The microphone key listens through the speech recognizer that is part of your phone (Google’s on most devices), only while the strip says Listening: tap the key or the strip to stop. MagicBoard never records, stores or uploads audio; the recognizer turns speech into text on the phone or through its own service, under Google’s Privacy Policy when it is Google’s. The microphone permission is asked for the first time you tap the key and can be withdrawn in Android’s app settings; without it the key hands over to Google voice typing as before.
With cloud AI on, the transcript is then sent once to MagicBoard’s server to tidy punctuation and fillers (section 3). With cloud AI set to Phone only, dictation stays entirely on the phone.
5a. GIFs And Stickers
The GIF panel is powered by KLIPY. When you open it or search in it, the phone asks KLIPY’s servers directly for trending GIFs or for what you searched, with your country code so the results fit; the GIFs themselves load from KLIPY’s servers, under KLIPY’s Privacy Policy. No account, device identifier or anything you type outside the panel is sent, and MagicBoard’s own server is not involved. The GIFs you send most recently are remembered on the phone so they show first; a sent GIF is held briefly on the phone only for as long as the receiving app needs to read it.
5b. Contact Us And Feature Requests
When you use Contact us or Request a feature in the app, MagicBoard sends what you type, the topics you tick and, only if you give one, your email address, so we can reply. The request also carries the app version, your phone model and Android version, your language and country setting, whether you have Pro, and an identifier for MagicBoard on your phone so we can tell that several messages came from the same person. That identifier is made from Android’s app-specific device ID and scrambled one way; it is not your advertising ID and is not linked to your name. Requests go over an encrypted connection to our own support server, are read only by RiekApps, are never sold or used for advertising, and are kept for up to 24 months. Ask us at riekapps@gmail.com to delete yours sooner.
5c. Usage Counts And Crash Reports
MagicBoard uses Google’s Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Analytics receives a handful of events that count how the app is used, never what you type: that the keyboard was used on a day, that an AI button ran and whether it worked, that the Pro screen opened or a subscription was bought, and that an autocorrection was undone. Crashlytics receives a report when the app crashes: the code that failed, the app version and the phone model. Both use an app-instance identifier set by Firebase, never the advertising ID, and nothing is used for ads. They are processed by Google under the Firebase privacy terms.
6. What Is Never Collected
- No keystrokes, messages or typing history are sent anywhere, except the text you send with an AI button and what you search for in the GIF panel (section 5a).
- No name, phone number, contacts or account; an email address only if you type one into Contact us (section 5b).
- No location, no advertising identifier and no ads.
- Nothing you type in other apps reaches the usage counts or crash reports (section 5c).
- No audio.
7. Backups
What MagicBoard has learned and your clipboard history are excluded from Android’s cloud backup, so they are not copied to Google Drive. Your settings (theme, key height and similar choices) may be included in your phone’s backup. A direct phone-to-phone transfer that you start may carry the learned words to your new phone.
8. Permissions
- Internet and network state — for the AI buttons, and to tell you when there is no connection. Typing works without them.
- Microphone — only for the microphone key, asked for the first time you tap it, and used only while the strip says Listening. No audio is recorded or sent by MagicBoard (section 5).
- To work as a keyboard, you enable MagicBoard in Android’s keyboard settings. Reply without copying is a separate accessibility switch (section 3a) and Codes from SMS a separate notification-access switch (section 4a), both off until you turn them on. It asks for nothing else: no SMS, contacts, photos or storage permission.
9. Your Choices And Rights
- See, delete or forget everything MagicBoard learned in Settings › Your words.
- Clear the clipboard history from the clipboard panel.
- Set Settings › AI to On-device so no text ever leaves the phone, or simply don’t use the AI buttons.
- Switch Reply without copying off in Android’s Accessibility settings; switch style learning off or forget it in Settings › Personalities › Just me; forget any person, or everyone, in Settings › People.
- Uninstall the app to remove everything it stored.
If you have rights of access, correction or deletion — for example under the GDPR or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act — write to riekapps@gmail.com. RiekApps holds no text, account or profile for you: everything MagicBoard keeps is on your phone, where you control it.
Delete your data
- On your phone: uninstall MagicBoard, or clear its storage in Android’s app settings. That removes your words, clipboard, details, personalities and people at once.
- On our side there is no account and no text. What exists is tied to an app-scoped device ID: daily AI-use counters, invite-link records, the Pro check of your Play purchase, crash reports and usage counts (section 5c), and any Contact us message with the email you typed.
- To delete it, write “Delete my data” in Settings › Contact us inside MagicBoard (the message identifies your install, so we know what to remove), or email riekapps@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my MagicBoard data”. We delete it within 30 days and reply when it is done.
10. Children
MagicBoard is a general-purpose keyboard and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date. A change that broadens what MagicBoard sends or keeps will be announced in the app before it takes effect.
