Wedding Invitation Message for WhatsApp

Ready-to-send wedding invitation messages for WhatsApp in English, Hindi and Hinglish: for relatives, friends, colleagues and groups, plus what to put in them.

WeddingInvitationWhatsAppIndia

A good wedding invitation message for WhatsApp is short, personal and complete: the guest's name, the couple's names, the main date and city, one line of warmth, and a link or card that holds everything else. Keep the message itself under 60 words so it reads in the notification, put the details in the card, and send it to each person, not just the family group. Below are ready messages in English, Hindi and Hinglish for every kind of guest, and the mistakes that make people miss an invite.

Copy any of them, change the names, and paste. If you want the card itself to open with each guest's name on it, we built Shaadi Ka Nyota for exactly this, more on it at the end.

What to write in a wedding invitation message on WhatsApp

Five things, in this order:

  1. The guest's name. "Sharma Uncle" or "Priya" in the first line. A forwarded invite with no name reads like a forward, and elders notice.
  2. Who is getting married. Both names, and whose son or daughter if the message goes to the older generation.
  3. The main date and city. Only the wedding day, not every function. The functions belong in the card.
  4. One line of warmth. "Aapka aashirwad chahiye", "it will not feel complete without you". One line, not a paragraph.
  5. The card or link, and how to reply. "Details and RSVP in the link" tells them there is something to open and something to do.

What to leave out of the message: the full schedule, the venue address, the dress code and gift notes. On a phone these turn into a wall of text that nobody scrolls. Put them in the card, where each function can have its own time, map and dress line.

Wedding invitation messages for relatives

For family, the respectful version works best, and it is usually sent by the parents.

Namaste [Name] ji,
With the blessings of our elders, we are happy to invite you and your family to the wedding of our daughter Meera with Arjun, on Saturday, 5 December 2026 in Jaipur. Your presence and blessings will mean a great deal to us. All the functions and venues are in the invitation below.
– Sunita & Rajesh Sharma

Wedding invitation messages for friends

From the couple themselves, lighter and in the voice you actually use with them.

[Name]! It is finally happening. Arjun and I are getting married on 5 December in Jaipur, and it will not feel like our wedding without you on the dance floor. Everything, sangeet to vidaai, is in the link. Tap yes so we can book your room.

Oye [Name], shaadi pakki! 5 December, Jaipur. Sangeet mein tujhe nachna hi padega, koi bahana nahi chalega. Saari details link mein hain, RSVP abhi kar de.

Wedding invitation message for colleagues and office

Polite, short, and clear about whether a partner is invited.

Hi [Name], I am getting married on 5 December 2026 in Jaipur, and I would be really happy if you could join us, with your family. The invitation with the venue and timings is below; you can reply right from it. Thank you!

For the office group, send the same text once in the group as a courtesy, then send it again personally to the people you actually want there. A group message alone reads as "everyone is invited, nobody in particular".

Wedding invitation message for a WhatsApp group

Namaste everyone 🙏 With great joy we invite all of you to the wedding of Meera and Arjun, 5 December 2026, Jaipur. Each of you will get your own invitation personally as well. Please do reply from it so we can plan for you.

That last line matters. In a group of 80, people assume someone else has replied for the family. A personal message with a personal reply button is how you get real numbers for the caterer.

Keep the message short and let the card carry the rest: every function, the maps, and one button to reply.

Wedding invitation message in Hindi

Hindi invitations still lean on the traditional phrases, and elders expect them. A few that work on WhatsApp without sounding like a printed card:

  • "सादर आमंत्रित" (cordially invited) after the guest's name.
  • "आप सपरिवार पधारें" (please come with your family) when the whole household is invited.
  • "आपकी उपस्थिति प्रार्थनीय है" (your presence is requested), the formal close.
  • "स्नेह और आशीर्वाद की आकांक्षा में" (hoping for your love and blessings), signed by the parents.

When to send the WhatsApp invitation

Send it four to six weeks before the wedding for guests in the same city, and eight weeks for anyone who has to book a train or flight; a save-the-date before that if the wedding falls in peak season. Then send one reminder three to five days before the first function, as a reply to your own message so the invite is right above it. Do not send the reminder the night before: half the family is already travelling and the other half has muted the chat.

Common mistakes with WhatsApp wedding invites

  • A video or PDF as the only invite. A 40 MB video does not download on a parent's phone with full storage, and a PDF opens tiny. Text on an image cannot be zoomed or copied either, so nobody can copy the address into Maps.
  • No map. "Hotel Rambagh" means nothing to the cousin flying in. Each venue needs a pin.
  • No way to reply. "Let us know" produces twenty "Congratulations!" and no headcount.
  • Resending after a change. The venue shifts, a new image goes out, and now there are two versions in every chat. Use something you can edit after sharing.
  • Only the family group. Personal messages get replies; group messages get emojis.

Send a link instead of a card image

This is why we built Shaadi Ka Nyota. Your WhatsApp message stays short, and the link opens like a card: an opening animation, the couple's names, every function from haldi to reception with its own map, photos, a countdown and a reply button. Each guest gets their own link with their name on the cover and in the WhatsApp preview, so "Sharma Parivar" sees their own name before they even open it.

  • Guests need no app and no login, one tap inside WhatsApp. There is a bigger-text switch for elders.
  • English, Hindi and Marathi, switchable on the card.
  • Replies land on your dashboard and on your WhatsApp, with the count and which functions they are coming to.
  • Change the venue or a timing once, and every link shows the new details. Nothing to send again.

You can build the whole invitation and see it before paying; you pay once, only when you publish, with no per-guest fee (price details). Browse the wedding invitation designs first, each one opens as a real invitation. And once the replies are in, our guide on how to make a wedding seating chart takes it from there.

Common questions

How do I write a wedding invitation message for WhatsApp?
Start with the guest's name, then both names of the couple, the wedding date and city, one warm line, and the link or card with the details and a way to reply. Keep it under about 60 words.

Is it okay to invite someone to a wedding on WhatsApp?
Yes, for most guests it is now the normal way in India. For grandparents and the closest elders, follow it with a call, or hand over a printed card if your family expects one.

How do I send a wedding invitation to many people on WhatsApp at once?
Use a broadcast list: each person receives it as a private message, and only people who have your number saved will get it. Better still, send personal links so each reply is tracked against a name.

Should the invitation message be in Hindi or English?
Match the person. Parents' side relatives usually get Hindi or your family language, friends and colleagues English or Hinglish. A card that switches language lets one invitation serve both.
