Voice Recorder – Privacy Policy

1. Your Recordings

Everything you record is saved in Voice Recorder’s private storage on your phone, which other apps cannot read. There is no account, no sign-in and no RiekApps cloud storage, so no copy of your audio is ever sent to us. Trimming, fades, removing silence and exporting are all done on the device. Recordings are excluded from Android’s app backup and from iCloud backup, so they are not copied to Google or Apple either; move a recording to another device by sharing or exporting it.

2. On-Device Transcription

Transcribe turns a recording into searchable text using the speech recognition built into your phone, running in offline mode:

• Android — Android’s on-device speech recognition. The first time you transcribe in a language, Android may offer to download that language’s speech model from Google. That download tells Google a model was requested, like any other system download; your audio is not part of it.
• iPhone — Apple’s on-device speech recognition. iOS may download a language model the same way.

In both cases the recording is processed on the phone and the transcript is stored locally next to it. Transcript search runs on the device as well.

3. Clean Voice

Clean voice reduces background noise with a noise-suppression model that is part of the app itself and runs on the phone. It writes a new, cleaned copy of the recording and leaves the original unchanged. No network connection is used.

4. AI Summaries

Summaries are the one feature that uses a server, and they happen only when a subscriber taps Summarise on a recording that has a transcript. The app asks for your agreement the first time. When you ask for a summary, the app sends:

• the transcript’s text and the recording’s title and length — never the audio;
• your app language, so the summary is written in the right language;
• the proof of your subscription issued by Google Play or the App Store, so the server can check it with the store;
• a random identifier created when the app was installed, not linked to your name or any account.

The server at api.riekapps.com passes the text to an AI model through OpenRouter, a service that routes requests to model providers. Every request is marked so that it may only go to providers that do not store or train on it. The summary is sent back to your phone and saved there.

What the server keeps. Neither the transcript nor the summary is stored or logged. To apply the monthly allowance, the server keeps a one-way (hashed) form of your subscription reference and how many seconds of recordings have been summarised in the current month. It also keeps daily totals of requests and cost that are not linked to anyone. Like any web server, it records IP addresses and request times in routine technical logs that are rotated automatically.

If you never tap Summarise, nothing from your recordings or transcripts leaves your phone.

5. Advertising

The free version shows a banner and occasional full-screen ads from Google AdMob. To choose and measure ads, Google’s ad SDK collects your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, device model, operating system and app interactions with its ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK and other regions where consent is required, the app shows Google’s consent form before any ad is requested, and you can change your choice from Settings in the app.

6. Subscriptions And Purchases

Voice Recorder Pro is an auto-renewing subscription billed by Google Play on Android and by the App Store on iPhone. The store handles payment; RiekApps never sees your card, billing address or store account. The app asks the store whether this device has an active subscription and stores only the answer locally. The summaries server checks the same thing directly with the store, as described in section 4.

7. What Is Never Collected

• No audio, ever — not for transcription, Clean voice, summaries or anything else.
• No name, email address, phone number, contacts or account.
• No location.
• No analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
• No transcript text, except the summary request described in section 4, which you start yourself.

8. What Is Stored On Your Device

• Your recordings, cleaned copies, transcripts and summaries.
• Your settings: recording quality, theme and similar choices.
• How many free Pro tries have been used, and whether Pro is active.
• The random install identifier used for summaries.

Deleting a recording moves it to Recently Deleted for 30 days. After that, or when you delete it from there, the audio is removed together with its transcript and summary. Uninstalling the app removes all of it. Files you have exported or shared elsewhere are outside the app and are not removed.

9. Sharing And Importing

When you share or export a recording, your phone’s share sheet hands it to the app you pick; what happens after that is governed by that app’s policy. When you import an audio file, the system file picker gives Voice Recorder only the file you choose.

10. Permissions

• Microphone — to record. Used only while you are recording.
• Speech recognition (iPhone) — for on-device transcription.
• Notifications (Android) — to show the recording and playback controls while the app is in the background.
• Background recording and playback — so a recording or playback keeps going when the screen is off.
• Internet — for ads, store billing and AI summaries. Recording, transcription and Clean voice work with the network off.

11. Your Choices And Rights

• Don’t use summaries, and nothing from your recordings leaves the phone.
• Change your ad consent in the app’s Settings, and reset your advertising identifier in your phone’s settings.
• Delete any recording (and remove it from Recently Deleted), transcript or summary in the app, or uninstall it to remove everything.

If you have rights of access, correction or deletion — for example under the GDPR or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act — write to riekapps@gmail.com. Because the server holds only a hashed subscription reference and usage counts, with no name or email, send the order ID from your store receipt so we can find and delete your usage record.

12. Children

Voice Recorder is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date. A change that broadens what Voice Recorder collects will be announced in the app before it takes effect.
