Dearly – Privacy Policy

Effective October 30, 2026 · Dearly (diary with lock) for Android and iOS, provided by RiekApps

Key Points

  • Your diary is yours. Entries, moods, photos and voice notes are stored on your phone; RiekApps never receives them.
  • There is no account, no advertising and no analytics.
  • Your diary leaves the phone only when you choose to: a backup file you share, a PDF you export, or an iCloud (iPhone) or Google Drive (Android) backup you turn on.
  • Messages you send us from Contact us or Request a feature reach our support system with your app version and device model.
  • Contact: riekapps@gmail.com

1. What Stays On Your Device

  • Your entries, titles, moods, stickers, photos, voice notes, themes, reminders and settings are saved in the app’s private storage on your phone and removed when you uninstall it.
  • Photos are copied into the diary only when you pick them from your gallery or take one with the camera. Voice notes are recorded only while the recording sheet is open, after you allow the microphone.
  • If you set a PIN, the app keeps only a salted hash of it, never the PIN itself. Fingerprint and face unlock are checked by your phone’s operating system; the app only learns whether it succeeded.
  • Reminders are scheduled on the phone itself; no server is involved.

2. Backups And Exports

  • Backup & Restore can pack your diary into a ZIP file. Where that file goes is up to you: it is handed to your phone’s share sheet, and RiekApps never receives it.
  • Export makes a PDF book of your entries and hands it to the share sheet in the same way.
  • On iPhone, Dearly Plus backs up to iCloud. The backup goes into Dearly’s own iCloud folder in the Apple account signed in on your iPhone, under Apple’s terms (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/), and RiekApps cannot read it. You can delete it in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Dearly.
  • On Android, Dearly Plus backs up to Google Drive. You sign in with Google, and the app asks only for access to its own hidden app folder in your Drive (drive.appdata); it cannot see your other files. The backup is stored in your Google account under Google’s terms (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and RiekApps cannot read it. You can remove the access at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  • Your phone’s own device backup (iCloud Backup on iPhone) may also include the app’s data, if you have it turned on in your phone’s settings. That backup is made and kept by Apple, not by RiekApps.
  • Android’s own device backup may also copy the app’s data to your Google account, if you have it turned on in your phone’s settings. That backup is made and kept by Google, not by RiekApps.

3. Purchases

  • Purchases are made through Google Play or the Apple App Store. The store processes the payment; RiekApps never sees or stores your card or payment details, only whether a purchase is active so the app can unlock it.
  • The app checks Dearly Plus directly with the store; no third-party purchase service is used.

4. In-App Support And Feature Requests

  • When you use Contact us or Request a feature inside Dearly, we receive what you type, the topics you tick and, if you attach one, the screenshot you choose. The request also carries the app version, your device model and operating system version, your language and country setting, whether you have bought the app, and a scrambled identifier for this app on your device (not your advertising ID), so we can tell several messages came from the same person. If you give us an email address, we use it only to reply to you.
  • These requests are sent over an encrypted connection to our own server and stored in our support system, which only RiekApps staff can access. Our replies come back inside the app and, if you allow notifications, as a push notification. We do not sell or share this information or use it for advertising. Requests are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted; you can ask us to delete yours earlier at riekapps@gmail.com.
  • When Dearly asks you to rate it and you pick 1 to 3 stars, you can tell us what went wrong; that message is sent and kept like a Contact us request above. If you pick 4 or 5, we open the store’s own rating page, which Google Play or the App Store provides under their terms.
  • Nothing from your diary is attached to these messages unless you type it or attach a screenshot yourself.

5. Notifications

  • Daily reminders are local notifications you set in the app.
  • Dearly asks to send push notifications only after you send us a message, so our reply can reach you. If you allow them, Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) gives your phone a push token that is stored with your message. We do not send marketing notifications. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone’s settings.

6. What We Do Not Collect

  • No advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no account and no location. We never read or upload your diary, and we do not sell personal data.

7. Your Choices And Rights

  • You can delete everything the app keeps on your phone by clearing its storage or uninstalling it.
  • You can reset or limit your advertising ID and app permissions at any time in your device settings.
  • To ask what data relates to you, or to have it deleted, email riekapps@gmail.com with the subject "Dearly privacy". We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have further rights, which we honour.

8. Age Requirement

  • Dearly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

9. Changes To This Policy

  • If this policy changes, we update this page and the effective date above. Material changes are also noted in the app’s release notes.

10. Contact
